Sound Design Program Introduction
Four Subject Areas covered in One Year:
1-Procedural Workflow Organized end-to-end: for the Complete Pre-production planning, Production and Delivery of Audio for Visual Media
2-Categorical and Analytic Language of Visual Media:historical backgrounds and practices that created the conceptual terminology, and it's reflection in the language of Sound Design for Visual Media
3-Contemporary Technical Information: related to Physical, Analog, and Digital Sound, Video & Film, and Interactive Visual Media technologies
4-Hands-on Skill building with Contemporary Toolsets: project management, recording, synthesis, signal processing, mixing and mastering, and formatting that result in a solid multi-media portfolio at year end
The Target Student –Target Professions
There’s high demand for professional sound designers in film, television, radio and gaming industries. They want their media products to be more unique and appealing, and today's sound designers must be knowledgeable in all aspects of sound design and its increasingly vital role in the industry.
Student Requirements:
Computer literacy covering Windows or OSX operations sufficient to use a PC in Audio production without additional training
Experience on one or more Digital Audio Workstations to a level of proficiency with basic Midi and Audio recording and editing
Student Recommendations:
Basic exposure to and experience with computer based digital photography and/or video, basic illustration and/or visual design applications
Basic understanding of Music Theory and Composition, with exposure to symphonic instrumentation
