Master of Music Production & Technology program

Curriculum contd.

In term five, students learn the Creativity & Artistic Direction needed to acquire the skills to expand their musical creativity through exposure to different genres of music, practical music techniques (progressive repetition exercise of music), and critiquing music. Also, examination of music history for the purposes of finding artistic direction, inspiration, and building compositions, film composition, music & narrative analysis, and interactive music composition for video games and online media is heavily focused on.

In term six, students learn focus on Project Management skills for successfully dealing with large scale projects & budgets and also
effectively dealing with people and motivations.

In term seven, students are provided technical information on contemporary platforms that cover aspects of music production techniques, mixing, audio editing, Midi, surround sound mixing, and mastering.

In term eight, students focus on Skill Building via Portfolio. This area stresses the importance of creating and continuously reworking and updating a professional portfolio. Throughout the four terms, as the student is acquiring skills through “hands-on” labs, they are constructing both the contents of the portfolio and the presentation container. By this process of having a targeted product portfolio that personally indentifies the sound designer’s skills to potential clients, the prospective Music Producer has increased motivation to put in the extra hours outside of class learning and labs exercises that such a portfolio requires.
