New Westminster | Stylus College of Music & Sound Technology

The City of New Westminster is situated in the center of the Greater Vancouver Regional District, otherwise referred to as the Lower Mainland. The City is attractively located on a hillside overlooking the Fraser River, 20 km east of Vancouver. The City Center slopes down from Royal Avenue to the Waterfront, offering excellent views up-river to the Golden Ears Mountains, southeast to Mount Baker and down river towards Richmond and Delta and the Straight of Georgia. The Downtown section of New Westminster with its sloping streets, waterfront views and heritage buildings reminds one of San Francisco.

Stylus is located near the downtown area of New Westminster, very close to the Quay. It is also very close to the New Westminster Skytrain station and bus loops making convenient to get to the collegefrom anywhere in Vancouver. Near the college are many food options such as Sushi, Chinese, restaurants such as the Spaghetti Factory, dollar pizza and an IGA Marketplace. A post office is also located near the building.

Accommodations

Vancouver is the world's best place to live, a survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit has found in terms of personal risk, infrastructure and the availability of goods and services. The moderate but changing climate adds to this beautiful city as the rain in the lower mainland purifies our air. The weather is never too cold or too hot.

Where To Live
Coming to live and study in a new country is extremely exciting. It is important that you find a place to live while that feels like home. Here are some hints to help you feel comfortable during your time in BC:

• some places are furnished, some are unfurnished

• you can find places that are for rent by the week, month or full year, some may require you to sign a lease

• you will usually need to pay a deposit of 1 month's rent when you first move in

• some places will include all your costs in the rent. Other places may charge you for utilities (electricity, gas, cable and phone) separately -- make sure you ask!

• some places will be located near your college, other might be farther away. Make sure you ask about the different bus routes, where the grocery store may be and other services that are near by.
