Instructor Hiring Policy

The College contracts qualified personnel to support learning programs and services by whatever means delivered, and to improve institutional effectiveness. Personnel are treated equitably, are evaluated regularly and systematically, and are provided opportunities for professional development. The College assures the integrity and quality of its programs and services by contracting personnel who are qualified by appropriate education, training, and experience to provide and support these programs and services. Criteria, qualifications, and procedures for selection of personnel are clearly stated. Job descriptions are directly related to institutional mission and goals and accurately reflect position duties, responsibilities, and authority. Criteria for selection of instructor include knowledge of the subject matter service to be performed (as determined by individuals with expertise of the fields), effective teaching, academic activities, and potential to contribute to the mission of the College. Degrees/ Diplomas/ Certificates held by instructors and administrator are from institutions accredited by recognized Canadian accrediting agencies or equivalent agencies from other countries.

Minimum qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma/ Certificate from a post secondary educational institution in the field of related to the course subject
- 5 years experience including 2 years instruction experience at post secondary level related to the course subject (Top ranked graduates of Stylus College can start teaching assistant in term 1&2)
- Demonstrate a professional involvement in the music industry or media arts
- Proficiency in English language
- Demonstrate its commitment to the college’s mission
