Financial Aid

Stylus College of Music & Sound Technology is an accredited post-secondary institute approved by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (www.pctia.bc.ca) and a designated institution. By choosing to attend an accredited institution, not only is your tuition protected but you can be assured the institution and its programs have met the Agency’s quality standards.

How Does Accreditation Benefit You?

To be eligible for a student loan, you must attend an accredited, designated private institution. Below are helpful financial aid organizations for students:

What is a designated school?

Under the Canada Student Loans Act subsection 3(1), a designated educational institution means an institution of learning designated by an appropriate authority within the province that includes specified educational institutions within or outside the province that offers courses at a post-secondary level. To be eligible for funding through any student loan agency, you must attend a designated post-secondary institution. The Master List of Designated Educational Institutions is produced by the Canada Student Loans Program, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

StudentAid BC helps eligible students with the cost of their post-secondary education through loans, grants, bursaries, scholarships and special programs. It also has programs for borrowers who need help repaying their loans. Most StudentAid BC programs are based on need, providing financial assistance where students and their immediate families do not have the resources to meet the costs of post-secondary education and basic living expenses. StudentAid BC also offers scholarships based on merit. StudentAid BC administers programs on behalf of the Government of Canada including Canada student loans, Canada study grants, Canada access grants and the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation bursary.

Provincial and Territorial Student Assistance Offices provide application forms and information on student assistance programs.  They confirm students' eligibility, process loan applications, assess students' financial need, and send loan documents to student loan borrowers.

CanLearn is the only online post-secondary education resource that provides Canadians with the information and services they need to decide what and where to study and how to cover the costs.  The CanLearn site was developed by the Department of Human Resources and Social Development Canada in collaboration with provincial and territorial governments and Canadian learning and career development organizations.

Canada Student Loans Program (CSLP) enables students with a demonstrated financial need to attend a post-secondary institution by providing them with loans to cover the costs of going to school.  In doing so, the Government of Canada attempts to ensure Canadians have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed to participate in the economy and society.
